Best Times to Visit
the Arctic

The Arctic offers two very different but equally magical travel seasons, each delivering a completely different experience of the world's northern wilderness.

June – August The Midnight Sun bathes the Arctic in 24-hour daylight. Ideal for wildlife watching, polar bears, walrus, Arctic foxes and seabirds are all highly active. Enjoy hiking, kayaking, zodiac cruises, and spectacular scenery at its most accessible.
September – October As summer gives way to autumn, the Northern Lights begin to appear in darkening skies. This shoulder season combines the best of both worlds, lingering wildlife activity alongside early aurora sightings, with fewer crowds and dramatic autumn colour.

Best Times to Visit
Antarctica

Antarctica's travel season runs from November to April, when the Southern Hemisphere summer makes this remote continent accessible. Each month offers a distinctly different polar experience.

November – December Late spring / early summer. Wildlife is at its most active, penguins arrive at breeding colonies, seals pup on the ice, and albatross soar overhead. The landscape is fresh with snow and the long daylight hours offer spectacular photography opportunities.
January – February Peak summer. The warmest and most accessible period. Penguin chicks are hatching and growing, humpback and minke whales gather in rich feeding grounds, and expedition routes deep into the continent become possible.
March – April Late summer / early autumn. Fewer visitors mean a more intimate experience. Sea ice begins to reform, creating dramatic ice formations and new landscapes, while penguin colonies are still busy and whale activity continues through April.
