The Wild, Up Close

Extraordinary Encounters
in Africa's Great Wilderness

There are few experiences in life that compare to watching the sun rise over an African plain as a pride of lions stirs in the long grass, or witnessing the Great Migration as a million wildebeest pour across the Mara River. A safari is not simply a holiday, it is a genuinely life-changing encounter with the natural world at its most raw and magnificent.

At Memories Travel Club, we design safari holidays with the care and detail they deserve. From the iconic savannah plains of Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti, to the remote waterways of the Okavango Delta in Botswana and the private game reserves of South Africa, we match you to the experience that will move you most.

Whether you're a first-time safari-goer looking for a classic Big Five experience, or a seasoned adventurer seeking something more remote and exclusive, we'll craft an itinerary that fits your style, and we'll handle every last detail to ensure it's extraordinary.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

This depends on your destination and what you most want to see. East Africa's peak season (July–October) coincides with the Great Migration river crossings. Southern Africa is excellent from May–October, when dry conditions concentrate wildlife around water sources. We'll advise the best timing for your chosen destination.

Many of our safari destinations are wonderful for families. South Africa in particular has excellent child-friendly malaria-free options, Madikwe, Waterberg, and the Eastern Cape offer superb Big Five game viewing without the health concerns of East Africa. We'd recommend a minimum age of around 6 for most camps, though some have no age restrictions.

Requirements vary by destination. East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and Botswana are malaria areas and we'd recommend appropriate prophylaxis and a consultation with a travel health clinic. Parts of South Africa offer malaria-free safari options. Your advisor will brief you thoroughly and we recommend visiting a registered travel health clinic well in advance of departure.

Absolutely, and it's one of our most popular safari combinations. Kenya or Tanzania pairs beautifully with Zanzibar or the Kenyan coast. South Africa works brilliantly with Mauritius or the Seychelles. We can design seamless bush-and-beach itineraries that give you the best of both worlds.

A lodge is a permanent structure, often beautifully designed with stone, timber, and thatch, offering hotel-style rooms with full en-suite facilities. A tented camp uses luxury canvas structures, often open-sided to the bush, providing an immersive and atmospheric wilderness experience. Today's top tented camps are extraordinarily luxurious and are often preferred for the sense of being truly in nature.
