The Indian Ocean's Most Pristine Archipelago
The Seychelles is, for many people, the most beautiful place on earth. An archipelago of 115 islands scattered across the western Indian Ocean, some granite, some coral, some so small they barely qualify as land, it has a quality of natural beauty that feels almost implausibly perfect: turquoise water, blinding white sand, coconut palms, and the extraordinary granite boulders that give the main island of Mahé and the nearby La Digue and Praslin their singular character.
What has always set the Seychelles apart from its Indian Ocean rivals is its authenticity. The islands are genuinely pristine: nearly half the land area is protected national park, there are no mass market hotels, and the Seychellois government has long understood that the islands' greatest asset is their natural state. The result is an island group that feels genuinely wild even while offering some of the world's most extraordinary luxury resorts, properties that exist in harmony with the landscape rather than imposing on it.
Mahé is the main island, home to the international airport, the capital Victoria, and a good selection of resort hotels on its west coast beaches. Praslin, a 15-minute flight or 45-minute catamaran ride away, has the famous Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of primordial coco de mer forest, and Anse Lazio, consistently rated one of the world's top beaches. La Digue is quieter still, bicycle-paced, with the iconic Anse Source d'Argent framed by its pink granite boulders. The outer islands, Félicité, Silhouette, North Island, Desroches, are where the most extraordinary private-island experiences are found.

FAQs
The Seychelles is a year-round destination, but the calmest and sunniest periods are April–May and October–November, between the two monsoon seasons. The northwest trade wind season (May to September) is cooler and drier, with Mahé and the west-facing beaches sheltered; the southeast monsoon (October to April) brings calmer conditions on the east-facing beaches of Praslin and La Digue. The outer islands like Desroches are generally calmest between April and October. We can advise on the best timing based on which islands you're planning to visit.
For most visitors with 10 or more nights, we recommend combining two islands, typically Mahé or Praslin with a more remote outer island. The contrast between the inner islands' jungle-fringed granite scenery and the extraordinary flat coral atolls of the outer group is remarkable, and inter-island transfers are straightforward to arrange. For shorter trips of 7–10 nights, staying on one island and doing day trips makes more sense. We'll advise based on your length of stay and what you most want from the trip.
No, UK passport holders do not need a visa in advance. You'll receive a visitor's permit on arrival for up to 30 days (extendable in country). You'll need a valid passport, a return ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds for your stay. The Seychelles is one of the easiest destinations for UK travellers in terms of entry requirements.
There are no direct flights from the UK, all routes involve one connection, typically via Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways), Nairobi (Kenya Airways), or Johannesburg. Total journey time is typically 10–14 hours depending on the routing and layover length. Emirates via Dubai currently offer the most frequent and convenient options with competitive business class fares.
