When to Go
The best time to visit the Indian Ocean islands varies by destination. Here is a guide to help you plan the perfect trip to each of our key destinations.
Dry Season (May–October): The best time to visit, with calm seas, excellent visibility for diving and snorkelling, and pleasantly warm temperatures.
Trade Winds (June–August): Particularly popular for wind and water sports enthusiasts, with consistent breezes across the archipelago.
Wet Season (November–April): The islands remain lush and green with warmer temperatures, though occasional heavy showers can be expected.
May–December (Best Period): The dry and cooler winter months offer the most pleasant conditions for beach holidays, water sports, and exploring the island's interior.
January–April: Warmer and more humid, with the possibility of tropical cyclones between January and March. Lush green landscapes and lower hotel rates compensate for the risk.
November–March (Peak Season): The dry season brings clear skies, calm seas, and exceptional conditions for diving, snorkelling, and water sports. This is the most popular and most expensive time to visit.
April–October (Wet Season): More rainfall and occasional strong winds, but also more favourable hotel rates. Diving visibility remains excellent and the islands are quieter, ideal for those seeking a more secluded retreat.
